At the turn of the twentieth century, the newly built Montreal-Mont Tremblant railroad allowed many more visitors to access Mont Tremblant. Real estate started to flourish in the area. Cross-country skiing – or Nordic skiing as it was then called - became popular and trails were created between villages. Many inns, hotels and restaurants opened to accomodate the newcomers, attracting even more American and European visitors to Mont Tremblant who, in turn, imprinted their personal touch on the local architecture of the Laurentians.

In the thirties, the Ryans, a wealthy Philadelphia couple, became so enamoured with the area that they decided to create an alpine ski resort on the slopes of Mont Tremblant.

From that moment on, the traditional Quebec landscape of small farms and windmills was forever changed. The resorts have continued to grow since then, giving Mont-Tremblant the wealth of recreational facilities that it offers today.

Mont Tremblant’s architectural heritage is still present in modern properties that run the gamut from country cottages to luxurious estates, neocolonial cottages, bungalows, alpine chalets and condominiums.
