Tremblant still no. 1 in the East

“Tremblant owns the top spot in the East for another season,” according to the magazine’s 20,000 readers surveyed. “Those who have been there are sold on the singular experience of Tremblant with its bustling village and Québécois culture, colour and sense of place. Nobody beats it for dining, on hill or off.” Lodging ranks no. 1 as well while off-hill activities and après-ski and service are ranked no. 2. Among the off-hill activities, the casino, says Ski Magazine, is a must-do. “We can’t think of another eastern ski resort with a casino right in the base village.”
In the 26 years of ski resort ratings initiated by Ski Magazine, readers have ranked Tremblant no. 1 in the East for 16 consecutive seasons. In terms of ratings, no other resort in North America has had such enduring popularity. High praise, indeed, particularly since Tremblant is measured against stiff competition from the likes of Sunday River, Maine (no. 2), Smugglers’ Notch, Vermont (no. 3), Sugarloaf, Maine (no. 4), and Stowe, the Vermont icon, no. 5 among the top 20 resorts in the East.
Tremblant’s picturesque pedestrian village accounts for a large part of the resort’s success. There’s a lot going on there. The skiing isn’t too shabby either with 654 acres of very varied terrain, 95 trails over four distinct areas (five counting the Flying Mile as a separate area), for a total of 78.9 kilometres or 49 miles. Tremblant’s website www.tremblant.ca is a good place to check out the mountain map and activities besides skiing. The site has been recently revised. A Tremblant app is also available for those who have iPhones or equivalent, providing all kinds of information including a mountain map, ski conditions and on-mountain weather.
There’s more in the Town of Mont-Tremblant that’s worth discovering, most notably, Mont-Tremblant’s quaint Old Village district just a few kilometres down the road from the resort site and the downtown (Saint-Jovite) area a few more kilometres beyond. A bus system connects the resort to both.
