Indoor sports & tennis centre in Old Village

An indoor sports centre with tennis and squash courts as well as an ice hockey/skating rink and an exercise gym will soon rise in Mont-Tremblant's Old Village district.  It's a majour 3 to 4 million dollar projet initiated by Paul Dalbec, Head of the Mont-Tremblant Royal Lepage real estate agency.  "We've been working on this project with Mayor Luc Brisebois, Pascal De Bellefeuille (the Village district's town councillor), and Louis-Martin Levac, (Director of the urban planning department), for two years".  Paul leads a founding group, eventually t become up to 40 investors in the venture, from the Mont-Tremblant region and Monreal.  "It will be goo for everyone", he adds.

Without a doubt, the indoor centre will be a major boost for the Village district and indeed, a considerable asset for all of Mont-Tremblant, fulfilling a long-felt need for indoor recreational and sports activities in a region concentrated on outdoor activities.

There will be three tennis courts on the main floor as weel as an ice hockey/skating rink 120 feet by 60 feet.  That's smaller than the 200 feet by 85 feet NHL regulation size but large enough for the increasingly popular 3 on 3 or even 4 on 4 hockey and skating, including figure skating.  In fact, figure skating classes are foreseen as well as a tennis academy under André Lemaire, director of the Mont-Tremblant International Tennis Academy at the Tremblant Beach and Tennis Club.  At the basement level of the centre, there will be two squash courts and an exercise gym as well as locker rooms.

The centre will operate as a non-profit organization with paid memberships.  Privileges will be granted to the founding member investors.  The land for the building, located between rue du Mont-Plaisant and rue du Couvent, is already bought.  The architectural design, plans and blueprints, by architect Bruno Saint-Jean, are done and if the building permits are issued by June, construction will begin that month and, according to Paul Dalbec, the centre should be completed by next Christmas if all goes well.

Those interested in becoming investors or members are invited to contact Paul Dalbec:  819-425-4008 or pauldalbec@royallepage.ca.
